For the 25th anniversary celebration of the congregation, several of the children of the parish narrated a life of St Innocent, which was put together with a slide show to make a presentation for the parish. Alas, technical difficulties got in the way of the children's work being shown at the 25th anniversary banquet, but you can see it here, at the link.

30th Anniversary of Fr. James in Manville

On Sunday, October 5, 2008, the faithful of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Archpriest James Parsells' pastoral assignment to Manville. Following the Divine Liturgy, a festal meal was held in the Parish Center, during which Fr. James was presented with a gift on behalf of the parish. Present at the festivities were Archpriest David Straut, together with his parishioners from St. Elizabeth the New Martyr in Rocky Hill, NJ, and Priest John Parsells together with his family from Christ the Savior in Dagsboro, DE. Many thanks to all who made this celebration such a success! May the Lord grant Fr. James and all those who gathered for this special day many blessed years!

Consecration of New Bishop

Archimandrite Abbot Jonah will be consecrated as the Bishop of Fort Worth to serve as Archbishop Dmitri's auxiliary bishop on Saturday, November 1 at St. Seraphim Orthodox Cathedral in Dallas beginning at 9:00 a.m. The night before at 7:00 will be Vespers and a reception with Archimandrite Jonah.

Church school began under its new format this Sunday, with classes for all ages, preschool to adult, going on before Liturgy. The church had purchased a set of movable room dividers which made it possible to hold four classes simultaneously in the hall.

Strategic Planning workshop

The diocesan Parish Health Facilitator, Mr Joe Kormos, was invited to St Innocent's to lead a group of 18 parishioners in process to begin some strategic planning for our future. Considering the current status of the parish, where we would like to be in five years, and asking how we might get there, generated a lot of enthusiasm, discussion and ideas, which we will be reviewing and working up into a feasable plan in the weeks ahead.

On Sunday, June 29, 2008, the faithful of Ss. Peter & Paul celebrated their patronal feast. VRev. David Koles celebrated the Divine Services with VRev. James Parsells, Rector of the Parish, while friends and visitors from various places were in attendance. Following the Divine Liturgy and procession around the church, a festal luncheon was offered. Saint Nicholas Cathedral will be the site of a town meeting in preparation for the 15th All-American Council to be held in Pittsburgh November 2008. The Town Meeting will be held on June 28th from 1 PM to 3 PM. His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN and Fr. Alexander Garklavs, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America will be in attendance. Our own Honey Zimmerman and her sister, Mickey Arangelovic, have been inducted into the Tamburitza Association of America Hall of Fame for their lifetime commitment to the preservation and growth of tambura music in America. Honey has her own tambura orchestra, Sarena, which provided entertainment at the recent IOCC banquet; you can find out more about Sarena here. Congratulations to Honey & Mickey on their recognition and for their love and dedication to their musical heritage!
